This is not marquetry, but it is close. It is interesting to see all the forms that are close to it. Now I have seen wood veneer mosaics where wood is placed like tiles, but this is cut to shape. The pieces in this picture are not really fitted into place. Also some of the pieces are sculptured, or at least some varying thickness are used. The artist had time, but I don't think he/she had much money. This work is from china, and uses what looks like all scrap wood. It is about 19 1/2" x 16".
